Over the last few days I've been watching cast videos and reading profiles to come to my opinions and I have to say that I'm a bit surprised by some of the initial values. Realistically, I can't see Brice, Garrett or Tony doing anything past mid merge. But, you probably are a little more savvy in this area, especially when it comes to score potential I had LJ and Sarah as pretty top tier- getting Brian Heidik and Steph Lagrossa vibes from them. I also rate Tash, Alexis with Woo as a dark horse. Trade in:Sarah, LJ, Alexis and Tash for the moment

That should give me 6 pesos/currency left and with brains at 2 minimum, I'll have to trade in JTia due to her bigger personality, more physical strength than Kass and more scoring potential. Giving me 3 bucks left and either Woooooo or Trish to pick. Trish is a shot at being voted out early based on being the oldest in the game and the potential challenge focus of her tribe mates. So I'll go with Woo. Hopefully Cliff is as intelligent and well spoken as his intro video appears (ie not) and so he might not get a Culpepper focus early on without a huge presence from the outset.
Trade in- Woo Trade in -Jtia

I like a lot of this cast with only not really liking Garret, Jeremiah, Jtia and bordering with David. Lindsey and Brice seem fun, but I'd peg them as potential quitters. Alexis could be a star, I am intrigued by Kass's strategy of deliberately under selling herself. Being a woman over 40 on a the physically weakest tribe of just 6 you wouldn't expect her stock to be super high and it really could be a case of Zane Knight in that she has a great sounding strategy early on, but it doesn't survive the first test resulting in a day 3 exit. Morgan would be up there as the hottest to ever play Survivor and if she has any gameplay, she is sure to get many, many fans. First impression led me to not like Tony, but now I am looking forward to seeing what he has to offer As a Fabio fan, I would love to see a Fabs style performance and if Jeffy P is right, Woo has the potential. Fingers crossed he can go deep

Updated. The price rankings Robb and I have come up with are very much personal assessment and then coming together and having a consensus. And prices will fluctuate, so even is someone seems underpriced now, the first episode will tell the story. Or even may even take a few episodes (remember last year, Tyson was priced at 4 then dropped to 2 before becoming unattainable by about the merge unless you already had him). Basically, I'm looking for characters who are going to get early focus, moreso than people who are likely to go deep and win. I don't really look for that.

Yeh, I think that picking too many players with a gander at winning too early cost me last time, getting people like Vytas, Aras and Tina early and then sticking with them for too long meant I had no shot. I should have been going for the Coltons and Brads instead as personality players and then jumping on those with a shot at winning once the jury starts. So I guess ideally I want 2 cheapest players from their respective tribes - which I have from Brawn & Brains. This should give me extra cash to fund my major scorers. I want to fill 2 personality players who are dynamic characters with interesting stories outside the game. They will probably get confessionals and airtime early to show viewers their backstory. Even if they get voted out early they will probably get a good focus early. People like Laura from S26, Shamar, Jimmy J etc. I would like to fill one player with a huge shot at going deep and sticking with them so I don't miss out if they become unaffordable later on(like Tyson did) I would also like 1 wildcard/dark horse who could become a huge threat, has potential to be great or bad (like Ciera last season) ideally they are low-mid range priced. This formation should mean that I diversify my team and stay in the mix without missing out on too much. Cheapies are covered by Sarah and Tash who are the cheapest in their tribes. Fortunately for me I think these players should see a price rise due to their well roundedness as players and each fitting as potential triple threats (which may be a focus judging from Jeff saying a winner needs all 3 aspects) Wildcard is covered by Alexis. Will she use her psych training to mastermind her tribe and control things while everyone is just focused on her looks? She could be a good confessionaler Serious potential end gamer is covered by LJ. I mentioned having Heidik vibes, but even Hatch-like vibes are clear by him saying that he will act like he has no idea at how to make fire and will leave it up to everyone else to figure it out despite knowing full well how to do it.I hope to keep him in my tribe as long as I consider him a chance of winning. JTia is character player#1 she seems dynamic and will hopefully get airtime explaining her amazing transition from model to nuclear engineer! I think I need another character player to carry my team. Despite having a better shot at winning than Cliff, Woo isn't as big of a character. 18 years of NBA is a huge achievement and so I think Cliff will get airtime as long as he's around. Plus he will attract a fan base from his many teams over the years - they will expect to hear from Uncle Cliffy for them to keep watching. This guy is probably more well known than third basemen Jeff Kent across the world and with no returnees he could be a big focal point early. Plus he should not be as big a chance of elimination based on first impressions as Spencer /Brice. Based on my thoughts I'd like to trade out Woo Trade in Cliff Thanks

Updated. Don't forget to select a captain, also.

Captain picking has been tricky for me in the past, but I'm hoping for new fortunes with a new season. As I'm not chasing anyone at this stage I'm going with a more secure seemingly safer choice rather than my risk/reward strat last season. Cliff is probably the most selected player from the brawn tribe and probably top 3 overall, so he's likely then to be a popular captain- especially given the 2 episode premiere in which more polarising, dynamic, big character players like Spencer, Brice and even Tony are more likely to get voted out. So I'll make Cliff my captain to start off as I'm unlikely to lose much ground due to the choice. Someone lowly valued will probably come out of the blue and surprise with a top score, but the odds that someone picks them as captain to start off with are minimal.

The H2H format looks interesting. Looks like I'm in a pretty good pool, with the Trailblazers being my toughest competitors. The Dentures are also experienced, but based on their last showing I should be able to cover them. I'm aiming for a Super 6 spot this time and the bye round adds an interesting dimension in that I'd be probably more willing to go for a risk when I comes around. Having my bye late in the season also allows me to have a 2 week period to ensure I'm carrying no jurors into the final rounds if I'm struggling at that stage and could prove the difference in qualifying for the top 6.
I'm feeling like having played last time and understanding things a bit better now that I should be able to perform much better

Something I just realised is that the Trailblazers should really have Cliff in the team because of his playing career with Portland

Lol, good call. Althought Modesty wouldn't know that (I named her team for her ).

haha, do I detect a Portland fan? you should let her know about Cliffs playing career, especially if she doesn't like him - then you can use a picture of Cliff in a Trailblazers jersey as her avatar
