Not at all, every time there's a 90 minute premiere I end up walking out feeling like it was my favourite ever. There's a few I'd have liked to hear more from, like Cece, Lucy, Michaela, Michelle, but for the most part everyone is bringing something to the table and feels fleshed out. And some of them in ways I wasn't expecting to like them for. Like Zeke and the fire, or David's just complete ineptitude.

And some of them in ways I wasn't expecting to like them for. Like Zeke and the fire, or David's just complete ineptitude. I just found the Gen X'ers so lackluster. I am a Gen X'er (just barely LOL) but tend to gravitate to the youngest of Gen Xers and am typically just fine with Millennials. So I guess I just wanted them to have more personality. I did really like Paul. Poor David. He just made me uncomfortable. I tend not to like folks that are just that down on themselves. I'm sure it was supposed to seem very self aware but I didn't walk away with that feeling. That he teared up in his confessional was nice, though As for the Millennials, some of them definitely have potential. Zeke was a very pleasant surprise considering his pre-game video. Maybe he is right. You'll hate him but come to love him. What I did not like is the one-dimensional edit of the Pretty People minus Michelle. She might actually turn out to be very interesting. While the editors busily painted Figgy/Taylor/Jay as big ole stereotypes, they actually avoided that completely with Michelle. She talked about her religion in regard to her job. But we did not see the stereotypical Bible thumbing. We did not get confessionals about her morals. We did not get confessionals from others saying religion is a turn off for them. Instead we got confessionals that she is hot. We get a quick snippet which might turn into something interesting between a Christian and Jew. So of the Millennials, I am actually most interested in Michelle. Hannah was my favorite on that team. Totally disappointed in the Michaela edit since her pre-game video was my favorite of the Millennials. Why I rate this so low, though, was really from the Gen X point of view. Every time they cut to their camp it's like the wind was taken out of the show's sails.

What a great Episode. I love everyone lol. Is this sarcasm We all know Yog has the worst taste on the planet so it should come as no surprise that he was excited by that premiere that was so boring that they showed the entire 2 minutes of the 'grab the pots, pans and chickens' challenge to fill time. The only interesting thing this episode was the cyclone and even that they decided to not fully flesh out. All of Gen-X sans David and Rachel were utter bores (and surprise, surprise, they were the two targets). I'm even disinclined to enjoy David because its really obvious now that they're going to keep him over everyone not in the six that Bret outlined and instead of showcasing his weirdness and making a joke of it ala Chet, they're going to give him this stupid growth edit. I also think I hated this episode because the only Millennials I came out liking were the pretty popular people. I feel like the show worked super hard to craft yet another hackneyed "off beat outcasts v oblivious pretty people" plotline and it's funny because this time they did an awful job at making the audience sympathize with Hannah/Mari/etc over the other guys. Additionally, they played up the "are the Millennials actually as lazy and inept as stereotypes make them out to be" storyline way too much given what they knew the outcome of the episode would be. At the end of episode one, I wanted to see either the Gen-X people were right to call the Millennials lazier or the Gen-Xers were wrong and the Millennials are surprisingly capable. Instead I felt like both tribes were about equally lazy and inept because neither could build a camp before the cyclone hit and both did about equally well in the challenge. If production knew this episode ended that way, I think they went way too far out of their way to include the canned lines about it being a battle of the generations. It honestly felt like Grodner had overseen production for this first episode with how canned and cliche the shitty storylines were and how flat the personalities were.
