The general idea of this game is to put together your own Team of Six Survivors, with the aim of scoring the most possible points over the course of the Season. Points are scored for all kinds of things - such as confessionals, winning challenges, voting correctly - for a detailed list, check out the Scoring Thread. As a general rule, the more screentime a player gets, the more they'll score for you.
You only have to worry about one Team, but as you build it, you are in fact playing two separate games at once.
In the Fantasy League, your points will be tallied week to week all Season long, and the Team with the overall highest point total at the end of the Season will be declared the Winners.
Meanwhile in the Fantasy Cup, each week will be a seeded, head-to-head knockout competition. Your only goal is to be better than your opponent in any given match-up. This part of the competition will begin somewhere around Episode three / four / five, depending on the amount of Teams that sign-up, exact format will be decided at that time. The Grand Finale will happen during the Final Episode of the show.
Before the Season begins, you will need to purchase six Survivors. For game-start, you must have a three-three Vanua to Takali ratio. Once the Season begins, you no longer need to adhere to this ratios and can trade for anyone you can afford. You are free to change your team before Episode 1, as many times as you like at no cost. Note you do not need to worry about a Gender ratio.
You will have a budget to work from of 18 Riel. Each potential player will begin the game costing somewhere between 1 and 7 Riel, and you will need to ensure your entire team total cost is less than your budget. Any change left over from initial selections, will be banked, and and you can use this later on in the game when you want to trade players on your team.
Each week you will need to choose one of your six Survivors, to be your Team Captain. This particular player will net you double points for that week (positive or negative). If you do not change your Captain in a given week, the Captain from the previous week will remain in the role. If your Captain leaves the game and you forget to change it, they will remain that way until you do.
NEW Trading is quite different from previous Seasons! NEW
Trading Ground Rules: You must always be able to afford a trade, and you must always keep six players on your team.
During the course of the game you may wish to swap out dud Survivors from your Team for better ones. You are always trading with the Meat Market, and not with other competitors. Depending on each Survivors points-score on the show, their Riel values in this game will rise and fall. Someone you purchase at the start of the game for 3 Riel, could be worth 7 Riel by Episode 3. Alternately, they could lose value and be worth less than you paid. Part of the game is picking out a bargain no-one else spots, and cashing out at the right times to invest in a better option.
Each week the Meat Market thread will be updated with new Riel values for each player based on their scoring in the latest episode and their previous price. Any eliminated Survivor can no longer be bought, but will remain on your team scoring zero points until you sell them. Their price, will drop from their boot-episode value, by 1 Riel each week, until they are worth zero.
Each week, you are allowed one to make free-trade. (Assuming of course, you can afford the Riel cost of the new player with the funds from the old, plus your bank balance for any difference).
You will be allowed make two free-trades, only if, you did not use a free-trade in the previous week.
This does not roll over any further to have three - the most free-trades you will ever have is two. Nor are these free-trades 'banked' - you either used one the previous week, or you did not. (You cannot say in week six how you never used a trade in week two.)
If you need to make more trades than you have free-trades available, you still can. However, each trade-at-cost will cost you points from your score for the upcoming week. These additional trades will cost you 30 points pre-merge, and 50 points from the merge Episode onwards. Plan your trades accordingly.
In order to make a trade, simply state as much in your Tribe Management Area. If any of the finer details are confusing, a host can talk you through the process. Any valid & intended trades when the Episode begins, will be locked in and done.
Before the airing of Episode 1, you may change your team as many times as you like at no cost.
Pre-Jury, any eliminated Survivor may be sold and traded for an in-game Survivor. However, once a player moves to the Jury, you will not be allowed to sell them. Jurors can still score points in different manners to the in-game Survivors. Once you have a Juror on your team, they are stuck there for the rest of the Season.
Note it is possible to trade for a Juror, but you may never trade one away.
All actions close each week, the moment the Episode begins airing on US EST. You may tweak and change your team as much as you like before this point at no cost - so you can make a trade/change a Captain, then undo it later in the week - but all trades/captaincies etc. will be locked in as stated when the Episode begins.
Trading re-opens once the Meat Market new prices are posted - normally this will be within two days of the Episode but it depends on the admin schedule. We'll get them up, as soon as we can.
If you have not made a single post or update at the board for a period of three weeks running, we reserve the right to stop tallying your shit and remove you from the game.
